Achievement：

The germplasm of genus Cassia is collected continuously, and the collection is focused on Cassia barkeriana, Cassia javanica, and Cassia (Jaranica × Fistula) this year. The cuttage and grafting experiment of Cassia (Jaranica × Fistula) is conducted. The results indicate that there is no rooting observed in the cuttings of Cassia (Jaranica × Fistula) under each season, and the grafting survival rate is higher with the rootstock of Cassia javanica, especially in January and February.

Biodiversity resources are abundant in Taiwan. We tried to employ the agriculture techniques for germplasm preservation, commercially cultivating wild plants, and producing seeds and seedlings to promote ecological conservation. In this study, we first established and preserved about 300 varieties of Taiwan indigenous plants in demonstration field. Second, we plan pueraria root propagation, and the survival rate of single cuttings can reach 76%. Cultivation medium is preferably sandy soil and perlite. Cutting propagation with mature branches are better than green branches with a survival rate of 40%. The test of the anti-inflammatory activity of the water extract of the root and leaf of Pueraria lobata showed that it can inhibit the production of IL-6 and TNF-α induced by LPS, and has no significant inhibitory effect on the production of NO. Cytotoxicity analysis (MTT Assay) showed no cytotoxicity.

The other purpose of this project is to establish the test guidelines and execute DUS tests and modified the test guideline and table of characteristics of agapanthus and graptopetalum and the agapanthus initial characteristics’ table has been established and included 45 items. We also collected 60 commercial varieties of phalaenopsis and doritaenopsis for establishing variety database. We have accepted 77 cases of phalaenopsis and doritaenopsis, 2 cases of oncidium and 6 cases of rose to execute DUS tests for protecting the breeder’s rights this year. There are 10 cases of phalaenopsis and doritaenopsis have been executing DUS tests, and 31 phalaenopsis and doritaenopsis, 1 oncidium and rose cases have been granted PBR. We also have finished a plant variety DUS testing technique training seminar on November in 2019.
