Breeding for disease resistant tomato and superior quality eggplant.

  • Tomato

In the first half of this year, 80 S6-S8 high generation resistant disease inbred lines of tomato were selected, and the field susceptible nurseries were selected for resistance to yellow leaf virus disease and bacterial wilt disease, plant and fruit evaluation of high-quality traits, selection of excellent quality inbred lines, and trial cross combinations. In addition, 15 germplasm genetic resource strains will be planted evaluation for breeding resistance disease tolerated, environment tolerated and excellent quality varieties.

  • Eggplant

The object of this plan was collected the eggplant with good quality and high yield in Asian region. We evaluated and selected 20 eggplant varieties of good sharp and quality. Some of these lines were observed higher tolerance to bacterial wilt which could be used as breeding materials. This year,we selected 23 S3 and S5 lines by pedigree method in the fall and to continue purifying excellent lines. We also finish evaluating 20 hybrid lines.
