This project aims to increase the diversity of current major papaya seed export varieties. Building upon previous projects, it seeks to breed papaya varieties suitable for greenhouse production, high yield, good storage and transportation performance, disease resistance, and deep flesh color. This year, we efforts have been made to establish high-quality and large-fruited hybrid materials and purify virus-resistant varieties. Ten hybrid combinations of medium-to-large-fruited papaya lines have been completed, and ten virus-resistant lines have been advanced to the S5 generation.
