Home > News > Dialogue Between Flower Sea and Seeds: Organic Fields Cultivating Agricultural Diversity |
Taiwan Seed Improvement and Propagation Station (hereinafter referred to as TSIPS) is home to Taiwan’s first organic field dedicated specifically to seed production. In recent years, this field has successfully transformed from a purely agricultural production site and landscape flowers into an important multifunctional space that integrates organic seed cultivation, biodiversity conservation, and recreational education. Through eco-friendly farming practices and the establishment of ecological habitats, TSIPS has turned farmland into more than just a place for crop production—it has become a diverse platform promoting harmonious interaction between people and nature.
TSIPS stated that, in addition to its important role in producing high-quality organic seeds, the organic field also incorporates landscape, ecological, and educational values. Organic buckwheat, one of the crops recently promoted by TSIPS, has advantages such as a short growing period and strong adaptability. During the flowering season, the fields are covered with waves of delicate white blossoms swaying in the breeze, adding a romantic charm to the rural landscape while also creating a relaxing recreational space where visitors can reconnect with nature.
Beyond its visual beauty, the organic field also demonstrates vibrant ecological vitality. The blooming buckwheat flowers attract large numbers of bees and insects gathering nectar. Together with the “raptor perches” and “insect hotels” previously established around the fields by TSIPS as eco-friendly habitat facilities, a complete farmland ecological network has been successfully created. This not only allows visitors to directly experience the environmentally friendly principles of organic agriculture, but also perfectly illustrates the multifunctional value of organic farming in terms of “production, ecology, and living.”
TSIPS further emphasized that the core value of organic seed production fields lies in “valuing production while emphasizing coexistence with the environment.” From seed germination to the flourishing flower seas, the organic field continuously showcases the limitless possibilities of multifunctional agricultural development and utilization. Looking ahead, TSIPS will continue enhancing the added value of agriculture and strive to build a sustainable agricultural model that integrates production, ecology, and daily life. Through this ongoing “dialogue between flower seas and seeds,” TSIPS hopes to further cultivate environmentally friendly agriculture across Taiwan and lead the nation toward a new milestone in sustainable agricultural development.
