Techniques development for bulb flowers breeding

  1. According to this year's breeding goals, 40 hybrid combinations of amaryllis, 25 hybrid combinations of calla lily, and 36 hybrid combinations of caladium have been completed, and a total of 101 hybrid combinations.
  2. The progenies of the hybrid combination of amaryllis and calla lilies in 2020 for sowing and embryo culture were planted in the field bed and the plastic basket of soil-free medium this year, and the flowering bulbs were cultivated.  A total of 2,265 progenies were planted, including 2,180 progenies of 45 combinations of amaryllis and 485 progenies of 30 hybrid combinations of calla lily.
  3. Embryo rescue technology was used to obtain new triploid amaryllis varieties. A total of 20 combinations were carried out this year. Fruit pods were harvested within 7-17 days after pollination and ovule culture was carried out. There were 11 combinations success and obtain plants.
