a. Research on Plant New Variety DUS Testing Techniques Management and Application of the Economical and Special Crops in Taiwan

The other purpose of this project is to establish the test guidelines and execute DUS tests and modified the test guideline and table of characteristics of rose and calotropis and the rose initial characteristics’ table has been established and included 72 items. We also collected 60 commercial varieties of phalaenopsis for establishing variety database. We have accepted 63 cases of phalaenopsis, 8 cases of oncidium, 11 cases of rose, 3 cases of dahlia, 2 cases of crown of thorns, 1 case of dieffenbachia, 5 cases of bougainvillea and 1 case of calotropis to execute DUS tests for protecting the breeder’s rights this year. There are 52 cases of phalaenopsis and 8 cases rose cases have been granted PBR. We also have finished a plant variety DUS testing technique training seminar on October in 2023. In order to strengthen the concept of plant variety rights, this seminar will teach DUS test technique and operational training of plant variety rights management systems, allowing students to actually participate in the operation of DUS test technique. This allows DUS test person to have a deeper understanding of DUS testing operations through the operation of the internship course. Through plant variety rights system, we ensure the effectiveness of plant breeders’ rights and plant variety protection, while also increasing agricultural output value.
