The establishment and application of specific molecular markers for tomato bacterial spot resistance gene in tomato.

Fig. 1. Tomato Bacterial Spot is caused by the bacterium Xanthomonas spp. It can be transmitted by animals, humans, insects, agricultural tools, soil particles, water pollution, and so on. When on the high-humidity environment with a temperature of 24-30 °C, tomato is the most susceptible to this disease, which damages plants and fruits, and affects fruit quality and yield in some severe cases.

Table 1. The disease resistance index of the tomato materials which were inoculated with three strains (Xanthomonas perforans (race T3, T4, T5), X. euvesicatoria (race T1) and X. vesicatoria (race T2)). Hawaii7996 and PI1144990-1 have the highest resistance to T3 and T4 races; Ruicheng 634 and Ruicheng 528 have the highest resistance to T1 races; PI126933 has the highest resistance to T2 races.
