Development of cereal residues made plug trays producing techniques and the effects on seedling production.

The objectives of this project include finding alternative treatment for cereal by-product, improving added value of the residues, and reducing the dependency on plastic containers. The application of renewable cereal by-product container on Solanaceae nursery will be evaluated. The growth of crops during nursing and after planting will be monitored. This will help the evaluation on the efficacy of renewable containers on Solanaceae nursery. Heavy metal content will be assessed for ensuring the safety of containers. The project will address the issue of reducing plastic waste, of lowering cost of cereal residue treatment,of environmental protection, and of maintaining agricultural sustainability. Results of the growth during nursing, there is no significant difference among 3 kinds of the renewable cereal residue containers in growth rate, which including plant height, number of leaves, diameter of stems and so on. But all of them growth worse than control group. In addition, the renewable cereal residue containers are in line with the regulations.
