Promote the Industrialization of Precise Strawberry Seedling Hardening Modules

Strawberry cultivation area reaches 585 hectares in Taiwan. Annual demand for seedlings is nearly 30 million plants. However, due to the high temperature and humidity during growing seedling, the seedlings are easily infected with pathogens such as anthracnose and leaf blight. These diseases cause significant losses in field production. This project aims to achieve the effect of strengthening seedlings and improving quality through modular cultivation management operations, guide the industry to transform into producing healthy seedlings, and supply farmers for cultivation, thereby reducing the problem of excessive intensive use of pesticides to prevent and control strawberry diseases. Currently, a self-assessment form for seedling nurseries has been completed to assist operators in systematically self-examining five key management checkpoints, including seedling sources, water management, material management, environmental control, and personnel management. It has also completed an analysis of the physical properties of the seedling medium and an evaluation of the health effects of strawberry seedlings.
