Research on Improving Agricultural Workers' Adaptation Strategies in Response to Climate Change: A Case Study of Agricultural Workers in Seedling production industries.

Achievement:

Because of the continuous progress and inevitability of the rapid climate change, it is difficult to mitigate the impact caused by it alone, and it is necessary to add systematic and integrated adaptation measures. Through in-depth interviews and questionnaires ( base on theory of planned behavior,TPB ),

this project aims to find out which factors affect the risk perception, beliefs and values of seedling growers on climate change, and analyze the key factors for them to adopt adaptation strategies, so as to find out the best communication mode between the government and agricultural workers for guiding them to implement action plans.

The results show that the seedling growers generally have a certain understanding of climate change. They understand that Taiwan is affected by climate change, which will also affect the overall production. They agree that establishing a good relationship with” agricultural research institutes, university professors" is helpful for coping with agricultural disasters . The main factors affecting the seedling growers to implement action plans are the opinions of "local farmers" and "family or cohabitants". In the future, we can link scientific knowledge with local farmers' experience for designing teaching materials, and deliver them through workshops or media. It is expected that these could enhance farmers' awareness, beliefs, values and willingness to respond to climate change.
