Establish the system of value-added utilization on pumpkin residues from seedling industry

Pulp is the main by-product of the pumpkin seed harvesting process. If properly processed of, it can solve the problem of environmental mess and waste of resources. This project is aimed at squash varieties circulating in the market to produce fruit that simulates the maturity of the harvest. In this way, the composition analysis of various types of pumpkins is established, and the pulp is made into pumpkin powder with hot-air drying processing technology to enhance the utilization value of the by-products of pumpkin pulp. This year, we have completed the production of 9 different pumpkin varieties with simulated seed harvesting maturity. According to the analysis of nutritional composition, the average total carotenoids of various pumpkin powders reached 584 μg/g, and the highest type can exceed 1,000 μg/g. The scavenging capacity of DPPH free radicals can reach 70%, and the average total dietary fiber can reach 23%, and the highest can exceed 30%.
