Research on Seedling Propagation Technology of Eastern Aboriginal Tribes

  1. In this study, 22 taro seedlings were collected in 5 original township areas including Taitung County and Pingtung County. 19 lines were carried out tissue culture.  Among them, the 7 taro lines in Lanyu Township showed the highest culture rate (70%).
  2. 48% of the total samples could be detected ZaMMV, DsMV and ZaMV.  Of the total collected samples, 44% were infected by DsMV, 4% were infected by ZaMV; 19% were infected by ZaMV. DsMV is found being the dominating virus in Yuanxiang taro.  
  3. Evaluation of germplsm, the yields are high in 111P and 111Q, and the 111Q line is full of aroma and moderate taste after cooking. The 111S line has the strongest aroma, and the taste is soft and sweet. . 111Y line has a fluffy taste.
