New Hangju seedling propagation method!
Hangju, Dendranthema morifolium (Ramat.) Tzvel. cv. Hangju of the genus Chrysanthemum and Asteraceae family is a perennial herb for anti ‑ inflammatory, headache-relief, improving eyesight and clearing heat-toxin in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The dried flower head is the main component part for Traditional Chinese Medicine recopies and for the fragrant floral tea. The current domestic Hangju cultivation area in Taiwan is about 27 hectares, the annual demand is about 100 tons.
In recent years due to instability in the source of imported raw materials, domestic demand was gradually increased; there is a gradual increase in the cultivation of the trend in Taiwan. Hangju seedlings in the past were propagated by division, cuttings or terminal stem cuttings from the mother stock plants which keep by local farmer. It would be big issue if the mother stock plants would not be well managed in variety and pest control. The plants in the field might be weak growth, mutations, resulting in yield reduction, quality instability. Using healthy mother stock and integrated pest management strategies are the essential factors for good quality and high Hangju yield.
The Specific pathogen Free, SPF Hangju tissue culture seedlings propagation system was established in Taiwan Seed Improvement and Propagation Station, TSIPS. This propagate rate of SPF tissue culture seedlings propagation system is higher than traditional division propagation or terminal stem cuttings methods, it would be good source for Hangju propagation material in the future.
The SPF Hangju tissue culture seedlings propagation system orientation will soon take place by TSIPS. Please pay close attention to the relevant information of the COA and TSIPS.
