Get ready! The 2024 Xinshe Flower Sea festival is set to kick off on November 9! Known as one of Taiwan’s most famous floral events, Xinshe Flower Sea spans vast fields and attracts millions of visitors every year. The fields bloom with fall and winter flowers like cosmos, celosia, sunflowers, and zinnias, creating a huge, colorful carpet that meets the sky. But this year, besides the stunning flowers, the Taiwan Seed Improvement and Propagation Station (referred to as TSIPS) has designed a special succulent zone where these charming plants can show off their unique beauty under the sun.

Succulents come in all sorts of shapes and colors—some look like tiny sculptures, and others pop with vibrant hues, making them stand out in contrast to the softer floral fields around them. With their drought tolerance and cool leaf shapes, succulents appeal to many people, especially city dwellers who love how varied and decorative they are. The succulent zone has become a major highlight this year!

Recently, succulents have become wildly popular in Taiwan, and many people have started keeping them at home or in the office. They’re not only don’t need much watering but also bring a sense of calm and relaxation. In the Xinshe Flower Sea’s succulent zone, visitors will find many rare species, like “Haworthia,” “windowed boats,” and “cup kalanchoe,” as well as creatively designed displays that blend art with nature. These installations offer a refreshing sight and fantastic photo ops, making them a favorite for social media and family trips.

The TSIPS hopes that events like this will help spread the love for succulents and encourage plant exchange and cooperation locally and internationally. As succulents gain popularity globally, they’ve become a symbol of stylish, eco-friendly living. Going forward, Xinshe Flower Sea plans to keep blending agricultural tourism, artistic design, and environmental education, helping Taiwan’s succulent industry grow and introducing more people to this peaceful green world.
