Artificial Intelligence Technology in Seed Packaging Work
For following the government policy, the Taiwan Seed and Seedling Improvement and Propagation Station (TSIPS) undertakes the task of supplying good quality seed. In order to make the huge seed production system, that includes seed collecting, treating and processing to fit the sowing period and to abundantly supply to farmers on time, the promotion of automatic seed production system would be a big help.
Since manpower replaced by A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) becomes the industrial trend, TSIPS has established an Automatically Seed Packaging System production line in 2017. This system that was designed for grain crops (corn, sorghum, wheat and soybean) and green manures (canola, hairy vetch and Egyptian clover) was the first time shown in Taiwan. The whole system that includes full-automatic weighting and bagging machine, full-automatic box making up and bottom sealing machine, full-automatic arranging and boxing machine, transferring system and robotic arm can improve the efficiency and yield rate substantially, save 60% manpower, provide good work environment, decrease occupational injury and raise the work happiness index.
The specialties of this system are as follows: The full-automatic weighting and bagging machine that controlled by PLC(Programmable Logical Controller) with 8 sets of position-dividing turntable mechanism can package 1 to 14 packs per minute within ± 5g weighting accuracy; The full-automatic box making up and bottom sealing machine makes up 1 to 6 boxes per minute by grasping method and can detects and warns of running out of box or tape and box making up or sealing failed; The full-automatic arranging and boxing machine can memorize more than 10 arranging and boxing modes; The transferring and arranging mechanism is built by linear guide; The four-axis robotic arm with 2.7 m working radius can loaded more than 90 kg. The system has passed the performance test and TSIPS will hold the demonstration to meet the demands for automatically seed packing from agriculture industry.
